Nude lipsticks by Revlon and Estee Lauder and FOTD

Yes, again, nude lipsticks. I can't help buying them :) Well, I've heard a lot about Revlon Soft Nude lipstick, and finely decided to give it a try. I also bought Elf lip balm in Peaceful Pink, and I didn't expect it to be that pretty! I like it so much !

Revlon Colorstay lipstick in Soft Nude
The lipstick is very creamy, pigmented and appears the same color on my lips as it is in the tube. Though I thought it would be a little more pinky.. But, fortunately,  it looks quite nice on me, and it doesn't wash me out. (I'm NC15 in MAC)

Elf Lip Balm SPF 15 in Peaceful Pink
The packaging of this balm is HUGE! And it's heavy. But for me these are the only cons.

As for the pros, it's very smooth, creamy, moisturizing, pigmented and glossy. The next good thing is that it's not sticky at all! I also love the color I got - I can describe it as delicate pink. And I like the smell of it too - it smells like coconuts and vanilla to me. I'm planning on buying more colors from this line, they are only 3 dollars!

Left-Right: Soft Nude, Peaceful Pink

Here is Revlon Soft Nude on my lips
I also ordered Estee Lauder Pure Color lipstick in Vanilla Truffle as I've heard a lot about it too. Actually I wanted to buy it long ago, but it was out of stock on their site, but now they released it again as a part of the limited edition line. I received it yesterday, and I noticed that it looks like Revlon's Soft Nude lipstick, I made their swatches so you can compare them by yourself.

The packaging is very nice - it looks very high-end and I like how it shows the color underneath!
It applies very pigmented, creamy and it doesn't contain shimmer.

from left to right: Estee Lauder Vanilla Truffle, Revlon Soft Nude

In my opinion, Soft Nude is a little more orange while Vanilla Truffle is more pink. But they are of the same intensity and on my lips the look absolutely the same! The main difference is their price- $24(Vanilla Truffle) and $8 (Revlon).  By the way Revlon's lipstick applies much smoother...Do you think they can be called dupes, too?

FOTD: Here are two pictures of Elf's Peaceful Pink lip balm on me. I'm also wearing some eyeshadows from my Coastal Scents' Warm palette and Lancome Drama mascara. It has dried a little, so it applies much easier now and the results are better : it doesn't do much for lengthening, but it adds pretty impressive volume without being clumpy.

And do you like nude lipsticks? If yes, what are they? :)

Rainy,rainy days...

It rains almost every day here, all day long! And even if it's sunny it's still cold, because of the cold wind coming from the ocean...When is it going to warm up??I want it to be real warm spring already! But I'm glad that at least everything is in bloom now!

Have you ever been to Yogurt Extreme? I love their frozen yogurts so much!Especially because you can add whatever you like into them!Yes, I like Reese's peanut butter cups as you can see haha :)

My new sandals! :D

Hey everyone! It's been quite warm outside recently, so I had to buy something for summer. I don't have really comfortable summer shoes(I usually wear pumps or wedges), so for me this "shoe" purchase was necessary:) And what can I say.. I'm so glad I have found and bought these sandals! Earlier I could not imagine that shoes can be SO comfortable! They are light as feathers and besides that, they feel so soft!!!I can not express how much I am in love with them!Anyway, I'll let you have a look :)

Well, as you can see they are so unique and elegant! They look amazing with jeans as well as with dresses and skirts! I like that they are such a neutral color (though there were bright coral and black ones). They are also made of genuine leather, and, as I've already said, they are SO incredibly soft and light!

I always have a hard time finding shoes that would fit my very narrow feet, but these fit me perfectly, both in width and height. They have back zipper closure, but there is leather lining underneath, so it won't hurt your feet. And, if you're interested, they are Nine West and I bought them in Nordstrom.

Digressing from the topic, we saw a really impudent squirrel in the parking lot near the store! It probably was expecting us to feed it, but we used that chance to take a picture of it. So, here it is, the posing squirrel :D

I love these little creatures so much!!And I'm glad there is plenty of them here in Oregon.

10 things that may look good on other people, but I'll never wear myself.

  1. Ruffle dresses - not my style-too girly for me

2. Feather earrings - not my style

3. Red lipstick - looks harsh on me

4. Costume jewelery - don't have a talent for combining them with clothes and it looks cheap to me

5. Fake tan - just not right, so unnatural

6. Black net tights- looks trashy...

7. Frivolous hair accessories - just don't look good on me

 8. Over-the-knee boots - make me look shorter

9. Very long fingernails - look messy and uncomfortable

10. Casual maxi dresses - are intended for tall women, which I'm not :)

And what won't you ever wear? Please, share!

Guerlain Meteorites Compact review

This is a review on Guerlain's Meteorites compact pressed powder. Everyone knows their famous Meteorites pearls in a jar. Some people adore them, some people regret buying them, especially since they are so expensive. I, personally, would not buy Meteorites as they don't have a super-visible effect on the skin, they are more like a finishing stroke in a make-up routine. As for my Meteorites compact, I got it as a present about 3 or 4 months ago, so here are my thoughts:
The powder claims to be illuminating and mattifying. Also,it perfects skin tone, as well as the original Meteorites pearls, though in the latter you can see the balls of different colors, while in this compact they are kinda pressed and look like a single color, miracle! haha
It comes in a velvet pouch, which is very elegant. Also, as soon as you open the box, you can smell Guerlain's signature scent of violets. I adore it!

The case itself is made of dark metal and has an ornament on the top, such a unique design!

The powder has that mosaic engraving too. My shade is 01 Teint Rose. By the way it's not pink at all if someone thought so,it's a true ivory shade.

Here is a swatch on my finger. You can barely see it, it is that translucent. It is definitely not a compact foundation. I put it over my foundation and it has a very natural, yet luminous finish. I would call the effect it gives me "airbrushed". It is not powdery at all, it's very finely milled and does not contain any shiny particles. I did notice that it mattifies my skin, I don't get shiny with this powder at all, even after 8 hours! All in all it's a great finishing powder, but don't expect much from it. I'm not sure if I would spend 60 dollars on it... as if I buy an expensive makeup product, I want it to make a big difference on me.

And what do you think about Guerlain's Meteorites? Did or do you have them in either form?

My daily moisturizers: Melvita, L'oreal, Neutrogena.

Hello again! Today I'm going to talk about my moisturizers that I use on a daily basis. I have four of them and switch them every two or three days, so my skin will not get used to one of them. You know, if this happens, your skin can become lazy and then it will not protect itself naturally (That's why it's really bad to start using anti-aging products on young skin, unless you already have wrinkles). So, here are some pictures of my moisturizers. I will leave short reviews for each of them, so you can decide which one(s) might suit you.
Melvita Rose Nectar day cream and Perfecting cream

Well, these moisturizers are both by Melvita, which is a natural/organic cosmetics brand. Rose Nectar cream is intended for sensitive skin, it has several natural ingredients, like Moroccan, Iranian rose, hip oil and rose seed milk that help to repair, soothe, rejuvenate and revitalize skin. 99.68% of the total ingredients are from natural origin. You can look up more detailed description on Melvita's site. About the consistency - it's quite thick, so I use it as a night cream. It definitely cannot be used under makeup unless you have very dry skin. On me it does not absorb quickly.. It's very moisturizing and after applying it my face feels like velvet. The most incredible thing about this cream is its scent. I can't describe how deeply I am in love with it! It smells like million fresh garden roses! I love rose scents, I had several really good department store rose fragrances, but none of them can compare with the amazing fragrance of this cream!
The next cream is Perfecting cream, which I bought in order to get rid of the redness on my face. Well, it accomplished its task quite well! Partly because of its green color I guess. It's also marked as anti-acne cream and has AHAs (fruit acids), which is great! It moisturizes, renews and protects skin thanks to many natural ingredients, like birch sap, linseed, goji berries, raspberry pip oil, green tea, yoghurt and chicory. It's suited for oily and combination skin as it is sebum-regulating and non-comedogenic. It's very thin in consistency and dries to a matte finish when applied. I use it under makeup and it works well! Usually if a cream is "perfecting" or "radiant", it contains shimmery particles in it, but this one doesn't, which I'm very happy about! 98.2% of the total ingredients in this cream are from natural origin. I think that's why it has such a strong grass-like smell. It's not very pleasant, but I don't mind scents, and it disappears after I put it on. I like the performance of this cream a lot, it seemed to help me with pimples and redness.
Rose nectar is on top and Perfecting cream is at the bottom
As for their cost, Rose Nectar is $42.00 and Perfecting cream is $29.00 and you can order them from Melvita's site.

Anyway, here are my other two creams:
L'oreal Skin Genesis and Neutrogena oil-free moisture SPF 35

L'oreal Skin Genesis is not quite a moisturizer, it's more like a base, as it claims to be pore-minimizing skin re-smoother. The consistency of it is very thin and the cream itself has a light fresh fragrance. Sometimes I use it as a makeup base, it  helps to make the surface of my skin very smooth. As for its pore-minimizing quality-I don't really  know, because my pores are already quite small. But what I noticed - it clogs them a little, but not as bad as L'oreal True Match foundation did haha. So, I use it sometimes, especially when I don't use my foundation, I just apply this and some powder on top.
Neutrogena oil-free moisture is my latest purchase, and I'm very happy with it! I had been looking for a good moisturizer with SPF for a long time and I found this! What I like about it : it's oil free, non-comedogenic, hypoallergenic and alcohol-free. It has a scent the same as ordinary spf-creams do. It's I would say of medium thickness, but it absorbs quickly and leaves my face matte and velvety-soft. I use it under makeup and it does not make me oily throughout the day,so I think it's suitable for oily and combination skin. Here are the swatches:
Top: L'oreal, bottom : Neutrogena

I don't remember the cost of the L'oreal cream and Neutrogena costs about $12-14.
Reviewing cosmetic products I don't mean their advertisement, I just want to share my opinion and my personal thoughts with you :)
I hope this helped you! And what are your favorite moisturizers/creams?

German Chocolate Cake

German Chocolate Cake
Yesterday we baked German Chocolate Cake,it was soo tasty! I had never tried it before. (There's only one piece of  cake in the picture, otherwise it would be too little for me haha). It was really easy to cook, as we used Pillsbury cake mix. It's like a dry mixture, you just need to add water, milk, eggs, butter and vanilla. We also layered and topped it with coconut-pecan frosting. Delicious! Though it has one drawback : it's high-caloric, so be careful if you are on a diet :)
Have you tried German Chocolate Cake? Did you like it?

Scream 4 review.

Hey guys, yesterday we went to see Scream 4, so yes, I'd like to share my impressions with you!
Is it supposed to be a scary movie or something?? Really? We laughed at least half of the film, seriously.  Don't get me wrong, I liked it, especially its really unexpected outcome, but I mean if you want to see a scary movie then it's not for you. Yes, there were some scary moments when I kind of started in my seat, but that was only because of the loud sound in the theater. Sometimes I cover my ears with my hands while watching a scary movie(yes, I'm weird),but I didn't even need to do that this time. About the actors: there are famous and permanent Scream movies' actors in the film- Neve Campbell (Sidney Prescott), David Arquette( the cop), Courtney Cox(his wife) and some new ones, for example Emma Roberts (Sidney's cousin, the funniest role). For those, who is interested- there was about one really bloody scene, not counting the scenes when the Ghostface Killer stabs people... So, who might like the film? Those, who want to have fun I guess. My final thoughts: poor creators of Scary movie series-it's going to be very difficult for them to make fun of this already ridiculous scary movie.
Have you seen Scream 4? If yes, what do you think about it? If no, are you going to see it?

My new bag and the look of the day!

Hello! I've recently been to Macy's-was looking for presents for my family and dropped in at their bag department. I wasn't going to buy anything...and then I found a handbag that I really liked. It was perfect: neutral color, middle size, genuine leather..Except for the tag haha. The original price was 150 dollars, but then I noticed that it was at a discount of 30%! I didn't even think - I took it and made my way to the cash register. When the cashier scanned it she told me there was in fact sale 75% off the original price!!!Why?They were just trying to sell out their winter collection. I bought a genuine leather bag for only 42 dollars!Haha, I should be getting used to American sales. Don't think that I'm crazy, indeed, you can't buy a genuine leather bag for such a price in Russia..even if there is a sale. So, here it is, my new love :)
Tignanello handbag

I also took some pictures for you to see how it looks with my jeans outfit. I'm sure it will look good with any color and style clothes.I added my favorite leopard print scarf just for an accent. (I also have leopard print tights which I love and will definitely show them to you one day!)

My favorite Victoria's Secret jeans!

My Lancome purchase: Teint Idole Ultra foundation and L'Absolu Nu lipstick in Beige Tulle

Hi everyone! This post, as you might have already guessed, is going to be about cosmetics. :)
We went to Nordstrom yesterday- I needed Lancome foundation. I tried their sample of Teint Idole Ultra foundation for about 10 days and I really liked it because it has a soft matte finish, exactly what the description says, and it stays on all day without getting oily (I have combination skin and tend to get oily by the end of the day in my T-zone).  Another plus of this foundation is that it's oil- free and non-comedogenic (it won't clog your pores or cause pimples).I was going to buy it and then the sales assistant told me that they had a special offer and with any $50 purchase I could pick out 3 samples. So I had to buy one more product to make it over 50. By the way the foundation costs 42 dollars. I picked out a lipstick from their new collection L'Absolu Nu. The shade I chose was Beige Tulle, I think it was the lightest and the most neutral in the collection. So, here are the pictures and my opinions :)
Lancome Teint Idole Ultra foundation

My shade is Ivoire 3 (Warm). I hate pink undertone in foundations !:))
The foundation does not have SPF, so make sure you apply a moisturizer that contains SPF. You don't want premature wrinkles! ;)

Lancome Teint Idole Ultra foundation
The nice feature-it has a pump!!

Here is the swatch on my hand. I made the second swatch right next to it and blended it out. As you can see it blended with my skin perfectly! I'm very happy about that since I have pretty light skin and it's really difficult for me to find the right shade..As for the consistency - it's quite liquidy, inspite of it being a full-coverage foundation. I don't feel it on my skin at all and it is extremely easy to blend!
Lancome L'Absolu Nu lipstick in Beige Tulle
Ta da! I like the cute rose engraving on the lipstick!:D

With flash. The lipstick is very smooth and creamy like a lipgloss. It has very subtle silver shimmer to it...beautiful! I can describe the shade as beige with pink undertones.

In natural light

I'm a fan of nude/natural lipsticks, so here are some swatches to compare. From top to bottom, left to right : Revlon in Petal, MAC in Creme cup, Lancome L'Absolu Nu in Beige Tulle, L'oreal color riche in Fairest Nude.  With flash.
Natural light

These are the 3 products that I've chosen- Hypnose Drama mascara, Flash Bronzer (tinted self-tanning leg gel with vitamin E) and a brush(I don't know exactly what it is for, I mean it's either a powder or a blush brush, but I'm going to use it as a blush brush as it is not big enough for using on the whole face) :)
The gel-a swatch and it blended-out right above. It has shimmer and is orangey, at least on me..Though I'm going to try it when it's warm enough outside.

Lancome Hypnose Drama mascara
The brush. It has a unique shape,I've never seen anything like this before :) And as for the mascara itself, I was not impressed...It didn't lengthen nor added volume to my lashes. But it may be only the first impression.. I'll wait until it dries a little as this seems to help with most of my mascaras :)
Me with the foundation, mascara and lipstick on.

Hope this helps! Have a nice day ;)
