My Top 3 Nailpolishes for Fall

ENG: Hello my dear readers, I hope your day is going well, and you are enjoying fall. It doesn't feel like fall here yet, and only the leaves that are turning red and orange let us know of the actual season.
I would like to devote this post to nail polishes as I feel like I rarely talk about them on my blog, although I consider myself a nailpolish addict. My collection is quite big, and I although I had promised myself not to buy any more nail polishes, I simply can't resist when I see a huge stand :(
Anyway, as we all know, darker colors are more appropriate for the fall season, so I have recently got several darker nail polishes, and although the current weather encourages wearing bright colors, I was really impatient to try them out! So here they are on my nails:

1. China Glaze Want My Bawdy. It's a medium royal blue color, not too deep, not too bright. It has a very sophisticated velvety look and multidimensional quality. Depending on the lighting it can look true blue or blue with a hint of purple in it. Love it!

2. OPI Every Month is Oktoberfest is a very dark plummy-burgundy color. It looks almost black in the shade, and only in the direct sunlight or electric lighting you can see the dark eggplant base color with burgundy shimmer. This color is very different from what I normally wear, but I still like it a lot, especially on colder days.

3. And finally, the main hero of the post is OPI Malaga Wine, my favorite out of the three. It's a perfect wine color! Most dark red nail polishes can look almost black, but this one is definitely a true deep red.  I love its gel texture - it is very easy to apply, and it looks as glossy as glass even without a top coat.

What are your favorite fall nail polishes?

Peplum Mania

ENG: Hey guys, how are you doing? This fall season has brought us several fashion trends, e.g. jewel-toned clothing, burgundy color, studs, baroque embellishment, plaid pattern, chunky cable-knit sweaters, and leather details. I'm loving pretty much all of them; however, the trend that stood out the most to me was the peplum trend. I think it's so feminine and can emphasize the figure really well. One thing to remember though, is that whether you choose a peplum top, skirt, or dress, the overskirt should end above your hips. Otherwise it can make them look bigger.
This top is from Forever 21, and despite the fact that I almost never shop there (their clothes are often not the best quality to be honest), I couldn't resist picking this one up. I was drawn to this top for several reasons: it's black, has lace detailing on the sleeves, and a golden zipper on the back. It looks the best  paired with a golden belt, that's why I chose a golden chain belt. I think it worked out quite well! As for other accessories, I wore my braided chain necklace (one of my recent purchases) to match the rest of the golden hardware.

top(топ) - Forever 21, jeans(джинсы) - GAP outlet, belt(пояс) - H&M, necklace(колье) - Alfani, shoes(обувь) - No name

I hope you like the look :) Thanks for reading and have a great day!

Birchbox and Glossybox (recent boxes)

If you read my previous posts, you know that I've been subscribed to Birchbox for about 9 months now, and only two months to Glossybox (it has launched in the States only recently).  So far, I really like both services, and I think all boxes I got have justified the amount payed for them. Birchbox costs only $10 a month, while Glossybox is $21 a month. The difference is significant, but I've found that it's worth it.

Let's start with the Glossybox July edition. The first thing I want to point out is that the box is about twice as big as the Birchbox one. And it's really nice too (great for storing other things!) That month was good, but not great; I got Sebastian Color Ignite Multi Tone Shampoo and Conditioner, which are supposed to be good for color-treated hair. I only have some highlights, so I wasn't sure if it would work for me. I didn't see any exceptional results after using them both, but I can't say anything bad about them either. The shampoo foams up well and has a pleasant scent. I cannot but say that I liked the texture of the conditioner - I've never seen nor tried a foamy conditioner! However, as soon as you put it on your hair and smooth it out, it turns into a regular creamy conditioner.
The other products I got were two packs of hand and body emulsion, a double-ended lipgloss ( I didn't like that it had glitter though, so I gave it away), foot cream (I like it!), and a brow pencil.

The conditioner
Nice eyebrow pencil!Soft and has a waxy texture

The August box was much better in my opinion. Two full-sized products and great sample sizes of the other three. So here we have Ellis Faas Creamy Lips, a full sized lip product. I haven't tried this one because I found the swatches of this exact shade online and didn't like it. It's an orange-y brown weird-looking shade. Anyway, my brochure says it  has a matte finish, which is another minus for me (I like glossy lips!) This lip gloss, or lipstick, whatever it is, retails for $22 which already pays off the entire box! Another full-sized product is the Illamasqua nail polish ($14 value), and the color I got was Radium. I like the shade in the bottle, but can't imagine it on my nails, so...
Next, a hair product - Biolage Exquisite Oil Replenishing Treatment. This sample is of a decent size and has a pump, which is really nice! I tried it, and was pleased with the results and with the scent in particular. This oil doesn't make your hair feel oily or anything, just adds more shine and moisturizes it.
Then, there are two huge samples of skin care products. First- Ole Henriksen Truth Serum (1 fl. oz or 30 ml), is a vitamin C serum which smells like oranges. It's supposed to smooth out wrinkles and moisturize the skin. I've been using it, and although it's a pleasure to apply, I can't see any results. I haven't used it up yet though, so maybe I just have to wait and see. The other product is Touch in Sol Feel like Honey Moon Skin Base, which is basically a primer that you put on before your makeup. It isn't as siliconey as most primers are, it's more of a moisturizer in gel form. It's really nice and moisturizing, but it didn't help my makeup stay on longer :(

Ok, so there is Birchbox September issue. It was nice, but I wasn't too impressed. The two things I liked the most were the Color Club nail polish in the color Insta-This that you can see on my nails here (it's a very pretty medium blue color with purple undertones), and LiQWd Volumizing Catalyst - a spray for adding volume to hair. This one isn't sticky at all, it just makes your hair a little bit more resilient and bouncy at the roots. They also threw in a packet of shampoo and conditioner by the same brand (also nice!) Then, there's Dr. Jart+ BB cream, which I haven't tried yet, but I will let you know if I like it in the future posts. Of course they couldn't do without a perfume sample. I got Mon Jasmin Noir by Bvlgary, and although it's not my kind of scent, I liked it. It is more suitable for nighttime as it's so rich and very floral.
Oh, I also got a hair twistband as an addition.

Are you guys subscribed to any beauty boxes? How do you like them?

A Touch of Red

I have recently got my very first Bebe dress last time I was in Portland, so I was very excited to wear it. The only problem was - I couldn't, since it was so hot outside. Fortunately, it cooled down, so here's my outfit. I paired the dress with suede booties and left my white socks peek out to create a layered effect.
To match the black stripes of the dress, I chose one of my favorite bags, which really goes well with nearly all outfits.

As for my hairstyle, it's really simple and easy to create, and I think the braid is what makes it look elegant and sophisticated.
I went neutral with my makeup (as usual lol); you can find out what products I used here

Dress - Bebe , shoes - White Mountain , bag - Calvin Klein , watch - Bulova

Hope you like the look!

New from MAC and FOTD + Outfit Preview

MAC has always been one of my favorite brands not only because it's quite affordable, but also because it has a wide range of colors and textures. I already own some of their products and I'm pleased with the quality, so I had been wanting to get some more items for a long time. When I got an opportunity to shop there, I decided on four things, three of which I'm going to show you today. They were out of the fourth item, a lipstick, so they had to order it for me. I'll update the post or something when I get it.

I hear a lot of good things about MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural powder, so I decided to give it a try. The color match is perfect - I have it in Light Plus, and I really like its buttery texture and the amount of coverage it gives without feeling heavy on the skin. I was also impressed by its staying power - I've had it since 1 pm today, and it's almost 11 pm right now, and it still looks nice and satiny, not oily at all!

The second thing I got was Mineralize Blush in Gentle. It's very pigmented, so if you are as pale as I am, I'd recommend applying it very carefully. It's a pretty berry color with gold shimmer, which transforms to a lovely sheen on the skin. I love the color in the pan, but I feel like it's too dark for me and also brings out the redness in my face, so I'm not sure if I'm going to keep it. What do you guys think?

And finally, my favorite product has to be this Cremesheen Lipstick in Peach Blossom from the Cremesheen + Pearl collection for Fall 2012. It's a rosy nude color, and I don't see any cool or warm undertones in it, so I'd guess it would suit anyone. It's a perfect everyday color as it goes well with just everything. It also has multicolor shimmer, which is not visible on the lips; however, it gives a nice sheen. By the way, I like the Cremesheen formula in MAC lipsticks the best as it's creamy, shiny, and moisturizing. And what's your favorite formula?

light swatch on the left, heavy swatch on the right

So here are some FOTD pictures using these products. I don't have any foundation on, just the Mineralize Skinfinsh Natural and a little bit of concealer dotted on some areas. As you can see, the coverage is just right without looking thick or cakey.

You can also see a tiny bit of the top part of my outfit I wore today, so the next post is going to be about the full OOTD.

What are your favorite products from MAC or products you'd like to try?

Touring Oregon. Part II

This time we decided to go to Crater Lake, and I am very glad we chose that direction. As soon as we arrived there, we were astonished at this huge, beautiful lake of a deep blue color. We learned that it fills a caldera formed as a result of a collapse of a volcano several thousand years ago. Isn't that cool?

There were so many chipmunks there!

Then, in a week or so, we went to Florence, OR. It has always been my favorite coastal city of Oregon as it's so beautiful there, and the weather was warm and sunny every time we went there in the past. This time was not an exception.

It's always nice to finish the day at Mo's!

I hope you have had a good vacation too, whether you got to travel or not!
